To a vampire, it's all about the blood

Twilight is a book published in hardcover in 2005, by Stephanie Meyers. It was also the biggest selling book of 2008. It is in a new genre called "vampire-romance" and it depicts the budding romance between a supernatural vampire youth and a young human girl growing more deeply in "love." The author said she received the outline for her first book in the series via a very clear dream that was compelling to her and which immediately shoved aside all else that day until she could get the details down on paper. She said that in her dream, what would become the two main characters were discussing the difficulties of human-vampire love. The vampire boy said he "was particularly attracted to the scent of her blood, and was having a difficult time restraining himself from killing her immediately." What a gem of a boyfriend. "Thanks for not killing me!"

Hollywood, never slow to pick up the scent of blood money, quickly made the movie and that debuted in 2008. "'Twilight' Success "Unbelievable," Says Director "$70.55 million for Twilight’s opening weekend. Fans, look what you’ve done to film director Catherine Hardwicke. “It’s pretty crazy,” she said. “It’s pretty cool. When I think that we’re going to be bigger than the biggest [James] Bond opening weekend? That blows my mind!”

It doesn't blow mine. "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” (1 Timothy 4:1) We are in the later times and the devils are pushing their doctrines. Satan is a counterfeiter, he cannot and does not create anything, he can only copy it. And what is the ultimate doctrine of Jesus? That He died for our sins, having shed His blood as the sacrificial lamb. Anyone who is saved, or even not saved, knows that it is ALL about the blood.

Since satan is a counterfeiter, it's all about the blood to him, too. Jesus shed His blood so His children would live. Satan wants the children to shed their blood and die. There is a problem, though. How can satan make shedding your blood seem like something you want to do? Aside from Jesus, shedding blood is not a topic that people generally cotton to. So satan made it "romantic" and targeted youths, and a new media genre was born, the 'vampire-romance.'

There has always been fascination with vampires. However in the middle ages throughout the Renaissance they were a topic of fear and hatred. All that changed in the 1800s when Bram Stoker published "Dracula." The influence of Dracula cannot be overstated: "The novel's influence on the popularity of vampires has been singularly responsible for many theatrical, film and television interpretations throughout the 20th and 21st centuries." And satan was off and running. I believe that satan laughs at the humans. We know his hubris knows no bounds. (Isaiah 14:12-15). I believe he loves to point to himself in any way he can, and does this often, hiding in plain sight, as it were. The cover of Twilight depicts an apple being enticingly offered, and the title of the book shows a nail or a stake, to shed the blood. How much clearer can his influence be?

The bible is all about the blood:

The life is in the blood:
Lev 17:11  'For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.'

We are purchased by His blood:
Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace

We are protected by His blood:
Ex 12:7,12-13 Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. ... The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

We are covenanted and cleansed by His blood:
Heb 9:15-22

But woe to those who allow the blood doctrine to be cheapened by devils!
Heb 10:29 How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

Youths, be careful of what you are doing. When you seek movies or books like Twilight, or even dress for Halloween as a vampire, you are succumbing to doctrines of devils, who cheapen the blood covenant and insult the Spirit of grace! Shedding your blood, even in imagination, for a misguided 'romance' with a hellish supernatural being who would sooner kill you than smell you, is NOT LOVE. God is love. "The greatest significance of these blood regulations [in Leviticus] was in their declaration of the preciousness of blood, due to the interrelationship between life and blood, and consequently the preparation of the Israelites for the atoning work of Messiah in a day yet to come. It is only in the light of the death of Christ that the significance of these blood regulations can really be grasped." It's all about the blood, both to Christ and to satan. Which covenant do you choose?

  1. Dude, this is a little bit freaky. And highly illogical. This is the sort thing why religion has a bad, bad name.

  2. And blood-sucking vampires restraining themselves from killing their girlfriend being the most popular cultural phenomenon, *isn't* freaky? Or highly illogical? LOL.
